Remmy Kigen

Let's keep motivating each other to help those in need, build resilience and advocate for positive changes in our communities

Remmy Kigen (16), from Kenya, journey started small — visiting street children in Eldoret City, Kenya, during school breaks, buying them food, eating alongside them, and simply spending time together. Those interactions changed him, sparking a lasting vision to advocate for children his own age who have far less than he does.

Using his own pocket money at first, Remmy began visiting children’s homes across the city, donating food, clothes, and bedding, and even helping clean the homes and nearby market areas to keep them safe and welcoming. He supported children abandoned by their parents, and worked to connect children’s homes with sponsors and donors willing to improve their living conditions. He also joined charity walks to help raise funds for children’s rights.

Remmy’s efforts have helped drive real change — education systems have improved to give children from children’s homes the same opportunities as their peers, and organizations and hospitals have organized medical camps to reach children who couldn’t otherwise afford care.

What started with pocket money and shared meals has grown into a mission that continues to mentor others and lift up his whole community.
