Tia Refaat Abo Ghanem

Peace is born when justice is fearless

Tia Refaat Abo Ghanem

Tia (16), is from Lebanon. Tia has recognized the injustice around human rights since she was just 10 years old, encouraged by her parents to take action for change. Their unwavering support, combined with guidance from the organization DCI/CCN, deepened her sense of responsibility to defend children’s rights—but it was what she witnessed firsthand that truly drove her forward.

Tia has represented Lebanon in the Regional Advisory Council for Children in the MENA region for five years, and in 2025, she was elected President of the Council, leading with vision and dedication. She has delivered motivational speeches to inspire her peers toward advocacy, honored Lebanon’s first women activists in the NGO sector, and participated as a panelist at the She Leads closing event in Jordan, as well as a MENA region talk show on youth perspectives and children’s rights.

Alongside her partner, Tia launched the Instagram page OurStory.leb, documenting their achievements and sharing stories of children affected by conflict—combining digital advocacy with public engagement to raise awareness about children’s rights across the region.
