Ailin Carisa Juárez López

When girls are informed, supported, and included, they can become leaders who build safer, more just communities for everyone

Ailin Carisa Juárez López (15), is from Guatemala. Ailin Carisa Juárez López grew up in Guatemala, where many adolescents have limited access to information about health, rights and leadership. Her own journey began at age six, when she joined workshops on children’s rights and youth leadership. Since age 10, she has used what she learned to help other young people understand their rights.

Ailin leads peer sessions on bodily autonomy, sexual and reproductive rights and informed decision-making. As a youth volunteer with SECCATID, she also runs workshops in schools and rural communities on drug prevention, leadership and wellbeing.

Through Fundación Oxlajuj No’j’s Yo Decido program, Ailin supports girls and adolescents in learning about their rights, building leadership skills and speaking up through youth-led dialogue. She also takes part in webinars, regional forums and virtual workshops, sharing her experiences on children’s rights, preventing early unions and youth leadership.

With support from her family, mentors and partner organizations, Ailin is helping more young people gain the knowledge and confidence to know and defend their rights.
