Children are not just the future we are already living consequences of today’s decisions so our voices must be heard and trusted because when young people are empowered we do not wait for change we create a safer fairer and more sustainable

Akshay Agarwal

Akshay Agarwal (16), from India, grew up in a rapidly developing urban environment where flooding, polluted water and unmanaged waste were part of everyday life. He saw how these challenges can put children at greater risk, affecting their health, safety and access to opportunities. This inspired him to explore how environmental innovation could help protect children.

Akshay developed HydroSob, a flood-activated biodegradable system designed to reduce pollution and harmful emissions in areas affected by flooding. His idea tackles environmental risks that can lead to unsafe living conditions, poor air quality and contaminated water.

Alongside his innovation, Akshay raises awareness about the connection between climate change and children’s rights. He shares his ideas through international programs, virtual competitions and collaborative forums focused on youth innovation, environmental awareness and children’s rights. By bringing environmental challenges into the conversation about children’s rights, Akshay is showing how young people can turn local problems into ideas for change.
