Baluku Shafik Siriwayo (17), is from Uganda. At 17, Baluku Shafik Siriwayo is taking action for children in his school and community. As a club leader of a Humanist Club, he supports children who have fewer opportunities and works to make sure they have what they need to learn.
Baluku organizes charity drives to collect scholastic materials and clothes for children returning to school. During holidays, he continues this work in his community. His parents support him by collecting school materials for the children too.
Baluku also uses debates and public speeches to educate his community about children’s rights. Through Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, he shares messages about peace education, climate action and his activities, extending his reach beyond the communities he visits.
His efforts have helped provide children with materials that support their education, while giving children’s rights a stronger voice in his community.
