Dave Sammat

The key message to the world: ‘’ Haitian and international children have all the right to peace’’

Dave Sammat (14), is from Haiti. Growing up in Haiti amid escalating violence and instability, Dave watched her peers get pulled out of school to work or fall victim to gang recruitment. Rather than stay a bystander, she decided to make sure every child in her community knew their rights — believing that children aren’t just victims of a fragile state, but the architects of peace.

Dave built her advocacy around three pillars: protection, education, and voice. She launched a peer-to-peer awareness campaign and organized “Safety Circles,” teaching over 50 children how to recognize risks and access support systems. To fight school dropout, she started a “Learning Solidarity” club, personally leading four workshops that reached over 250 children and 50 parents. She also created a video advocating for children’s role in local governance, and manages a youth group chat where 120 members work together on protection strategies.

The impact speaks for itself: her governance video reached over 15,000 views, sparking conversations among youth across Haiti. Through Safety Circles, workshops, and everyday leadership, Dave is helping build a generation of Haitian children who know their rights and are ready to defend them.
