Honia Raheen

My childhood should not be silenced.

Honia Raheen

Honia Raheen (12), is from Afghanistan. Growing up in Afghanistan, Honia witnessed the struggles and silence forced upon many girls around her. Rather than staying quiet herself, she decided to give those unheard voices a platform, starting with her own pen.

Honia wrote and published her first book, Escape from the World, a symbolic story capturing the challenges girls face under silence and discrimination. Shared in PDF format with peers and community members, the book has sparked awareness and reflection on girls’ rights. She then went further, creating Zancast, an online platform where she interviews Afghan girls and women about their personal experiences and achievements, giving other girls real role models to look up to.

Through her writing and interviews, Honia has reached approximately 135 people, including peers, community members, and followers, inspiring them with stories of resilience and success. With strong support from her parents, Honia is proving that even at 12, a story can be a powerful act of resistance, giving voice to girls who’ve long been told to stay silent.
