Empowerment drives change!

Jayda Ramjattan

Jayda Ramjattan (16), is from Trinidad and Tobago. Growing up in Trinidad & Tobago with the support of caring parents, Jayda used her voice early, becoming a natural leader with a deep empathy for children less fortunate than herself. She turned that empathy into action across environmental advocacy, child protection, and community care.

Jayda founded ECOSTEPS TT, a popup educational booth raising awareness about environmental issues and empowering youth to tackle climate challenges through community-driven solutions. She was appointed a Child Rights Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago with the UN and the Office of the Prime Minister’s Gender and Child Affairs division. She participated in child protection campaigns, including a UN training on psychological first aid for children and a workshop on protecting kids from cyber grooming, and advocated for strong male role models for children through national television and eco-art displays.

Beyond advocacy, Jayda organized clothing drives, a community BBQ fundraiser, and a children’s toy drive, ensuring her impact reached beyond awareness into direct support. Through art, media, and hands-on community work, Jayda is showing that protecting children’s rights means addressing everything from the environment to emotional wellbeing, and she’s doing it all before turning 17.
