Md Ashiq Manjur Rafi

“My message to the world is simple: every child deserves to understand their safety, speak without fear, and grow in an environment where their dignity is protected.”

Md Ashiq Manjur Rafi

Md Ashiq Manjur Rafi (15), is from Bangladesh. Growing up in a madrasa-connected environment in Bangladesh, Rafi noticed something important: while education was structured, conversations about personal safety and sensitive topics were often missing. Many children around him didn’t understand personal boundaries and stayed silent when something felt wrong.

Rafi decided to change that. He started peer-based conversations with fellow madrasa students, helping them understand the difference between safe and unsafe touch in a way that respected their culture and values. He created trust-based spaces where children felt safe sharing fears or questions they’d normally keep to themselves.

Using simple language and relatable examples, Rafi made these sensitive topics easy to understand, even for younger students. He gently encouraged a culture where speaking up replaces silence when something feels unsafe.

Through his efforts, Rafi has directly reached an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 students — with his parents’ encouragement fueling his sense of responsibility toward others every step of the way.
