Md. Rokon

True peace begins when every child is empowered with education and the awareness that they have the right to shape a better future for themselves.

Md. Rokon (16), from Bangladesh lives in a community where children’s rights were often overlooked. Rokon saw firsthand the struggles around him — limited access to quality education and health safety. That experience convinced him that no child should be held back by circumstance, and that even a young voice can spark real change.

Rokon organized community workshops to teach peers and families about basic child rights and the value of education. He ran safety campaigns focused on child health and protection in underprivileged households, and built a local network to help school dropouts return to their studies. He also mobilized local youth volunteers to identify and report child welfare issues to educators and authorities, and helped distribute learning materials to children without the means to buy their own.

Through these efforts, Rokon reached around 2,000 people through awareness programs, helping boost school enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and make families more aware of child protection laws.

With his parents and local educators offering guidance and encouragement, Rokon has helped children in his community feel more confident speaking up for their own needs and rights.
