Every child holds the power to create change when they are healthy, educated, and supported. She believes that a healthy, educated child can change the world, as children are the future leaders.

Georgina Magesa

Georgina Magesa (12), is from Tanzania. From a young age, Georgina noticed that many children, especially those in underserved communities and children with disabilities, didn’t have equal access to education or a voice in decisions about their own lives. That realization pushed her to act, and to make sure other children didn’t feel invisible the way she saw them being treated.

She founded the Georgina Foundation, a child-led organization focused on literacy, environmental protection, and inclusion. She launched the “1 Child, 1 Book, 1 Tree” campaign, giving children books while engaging them in tree planting and environmental care. She created the Read and Green Hub, a space for reading and climate discussions, and championed the rights of visually impaired children by translating books into Braille, including her own book, Mazingira, on environmental education.

Georgina’s work spans local, national, and international levels, where she represents children’s perspectives in climate and policy conversations. By combining literacy, sustainability, and disability inclusion, Georgina is showing that every child, regardless of background or ability, deserves both an education and a voice, and she’s building the platforms to make that happen..
