Rajveer Agarwal

"I don't think inclusivity should depend on who you are, whether you are disabled or not, everyone should be able to access everything the same way."

Rajveer Agarwal (16), is from India. Growing up with a passion for design, Rajveer noticed something troubling: many everyday spaces exclude rather than include. This became personal through a close family friend who has used a wheelchair since birth and constantly faced spaces that weren’t built for him. Rajveer began seeing the same problem everywhere in his own surroundings.

He started at his own school, identifying infrastructural barriers and advocating for inclusive design changes to make movement safer and more independent for all students, including those with disabilities. He then took his work into the public sphere, conducting accessibility audits of two major transport hubs in his hometown of Guwahati — ISBT Betkuchi and ISBT Khanapara — assessing the mobility, navigation, and safety challenges faced by children and people with disabilities.

Rajveer turned his findings into detailed, solution-oriented reports recommending ramps, signage, tactile paths, and safer walkways. These reports were submitted to government authorities and his school, The Doon School, and are contributing to real implementation efforts.

With support from family, school, and mentors, Rajveer is proving that thoughtful design can be a powerful tool for inclusion.
